YOURSAY ‘But he is half-right when he said Hadi has dug his own grave.’

PAS president digging own grave, says Zam

Tholu: Former information minister Zainuddin Maidin’s analysis of the present scenario is at best incoherent and non-intellectual. He has presented many contradicting and inconsistent views.

For instance, he says PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s decision to cooperate with non-Muslim political parties will cause him to be booted out by his party members.

However in the same breath he says Mohamad Asri Muda was voted out of PAS for wanting to work with Umno. Isn’t this a belying observation?

Zam (Zainuddin) also asserts that a clean, just and honest Malaysia would be a Utopian ideal. Now, this really betrays his corrupted, dishonest and unscrupulous character.

Being in Umno and having been imbued in the culture of corruption, power abuse, cronyism and inequitableness, he cannot imagine even in his wildest dreams that Malaysia can indeed be a “clean, just and honest” nation.

However, if Pakatan Rakyat does not replace the present Umno-BN government, his scepticism of such a ‘Utopian’ country is indeed not possible. Any surprise why he is no more in the Malaysian cabinet?

Multi Racial: Well, Zam is from the same (former PM) Mahathir Mohamad camp with specific goals to divide the people.

He is the last person on earth who would want PAS to succeed. So can you believe what he said about PAS leaders Hadi and Mohamad ‘Mat’ Sabu? Obviously not. He wants Pakatan to fail, and PAS to fail too.

Really, we don't care what he said but it is unfortunate to know even after having retired, he still want to divide this country with race and religion.

Anonymous_1392518430: Malaysia is a multiracial country. What is wrong with co-operation between Malaysians of different races?

What was his Information Ministry doing when he was the minister? To create disunity and hatred?

Thinkingmachine: Dear Zam, I sincerely hope that you will follow the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

To quote: "Since the upper hand was with the Muslims, the Prophet strictly warned against any maltreatment of people of other faiths.

“He said: ‘Beware! Whoever is cruel and hard on a non-Muslim minority, or curtails their rights, or burdens them with more than they can bear, or takes anything from them against their free will; I (Prophet Muhammad) will complain against the person on the Day of Judgement.’” (Abu Dawud)

Mushiro: PAS’ political cooperation with multiracial parties like DAP and PKR since 2007 has rewarded the Islamic party with its best ever GE results.

PAS got Kedah and even ruled Perak for a short stint in 2008. The loss of Kedah in 2008 was due to PAS' internal problems.

Hadi's recent problems is because his non-consistent stand with the party's central committee decisions and also his flip-flop and non-cooperation with DAP and PKR.

In fact, Hadi's inclination towards Umno and the unity government plan with Umno would have destroyed his political career. PAS can never make it alone and will not have done this well on its own.

Commentable: Yes, Zam is half-right when he said Abdul Hadi has dug his own grave and no, he is wrong when he attributed his reason for it.

Hadi dug his own grave not because of Hadi’s ‘tahaluf siyasi’ with the non-Muslim parties but because of his two-timing back-stabbing trait.

It is this kind of trait that decent and right-thinking humans will find revolting and will not tolerate at all.

Quigonbond: If Hadi Awang can go back to a time when he supported Mat Sabu as mentioned by Zam, he will also recall that cooperation with Pakatan parties is the only way to break Umno uninterrupted 50-year rule of Malaysia based on illegitimate means.

What so bad about cooperating with Pakatan for a progressive and modern Malaysia? It sure beats joining the Umno bandwagon.

Besides, how come I don't see Zam telling Umno to quit BN and go on its own since it's all so very powerful now and other parties in BN are basically mosquitoes?

Because it sure sounds like Zam is promoting Islamic state which MCA and Gerakan appear to be against.

Bamboo: An enduring cooperation of PKR-DAP-PAS is the worst nightmare of Umno. This is because the Pakatan alliance will realistically be able to replace BN as government.

Zainuddin is driving a wedge into the Pakatan alliance. Too bad, Hadi himself has himself weakened the alliance with his antics during the Selangor MB saga.

Spinnot: It’s better for PAS to join BN. Then there is no need for PAS to dig its own grave. Umno Baru has got one ready-made for the party.
