It is disappointing to see that newly-minted Menteri Besar Azmin Ali is still being controlled by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, the MCA says.

“Azmin appears to still be remote-controlled by Anwar,” Federal Territories MCA publicity bureau chairperson Lau Chin Kok said in a statement yesterday.

Lau was referring to the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader's reinstatement on Wednesday as the state economic adviser, “thus placing Selangor in Anwar's dirty hands”.

“It is unfortunate that Azmin revoked Khalid’s decision to close down the state economic adviser’s office and placed Selangor under the dirty hands of Anwar, yet again,” Lau said.

The state economic adviser's office was closed down in Khalid's final parting shot on his last day at work on Sept 22.

Lau (right) claimed that Khalid was forced out of the office because of his refusal to give in to Anwar on the water restructuring issues.

“Khalid had prevented him (Anwar) from putting the well-being of the millions of people in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya in jeopardy,” Lau argued.

“The rakyat must be reminded that the water crisis in Selangor was brought about by none other than Pakatan Rakyat's obstruction to the construction of Langat 2” he said.

He then said that MCA hopes Azmin would demonstrate his resilience in upholding the welfare of the people, “without fear or favour”.

He also urged PKR's state executive councillor Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who was the former deputy speaker and who has now been tasked to take charge of education, to treat schools of all streams in the state “fairly”.

“This includes giving out the scheduled grants to Chinese independent schools on time,” Lau added.
