Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali will retain his party boss Anwar Ibrahim as state economic adviser, for which the latter is paid RM1 a month.

In his final parting shot, former menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim closed the state economic adviser's office on his last day at work.

Anwar attributed this to Khalid being bitter about the move to replace him.

Meanwhile, Azmin also clarified that Anwar was not sacked from the post.

"That is not the issue here. If we go through the Sept 22 meeting minutes, what was done is to close the economic adviser's office," he added.

Azmin was speaking to reporters after chairing his first exco meeting in Shah Alam.

He said the exco would review the role of the economic adviser in assisting the state and make a decision on re-opening his office later.

Meanwhile, Anwar, in a twitter post, said: "Get back my 1 ringgit."

Following his appointment to the adviser post in 2009, it was stated that Anwar would have the opportunity to implement emerging new theories of economic development.

The appointment, it was claimed, was part of a bid to enlist a wider array of experience from within Pakatan Rakyat to boost Selangor's standing as a pacesetter among Malaysian sates where economic development is concerned.
