P KUBOR The BN candidate for the Pengkalan Kubor by-election, Mat Razi Mat Ail, 48, regrets that PAS is always directing personal attacks at him and slandering him in their campaign.     
 
He said the opposition's latest slander, being widely disseminated via the Internet, claimed that he had a secret lover and they would soon reveal the woman.    
 
"It's a great sin to slander and people who do it are cursed. Now we may enjoy slandering people, but when we die, God will teach us a lesson," he told reporters in Tumpat yesterday.    
 
PAS' candidate Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim, 56, had disputed Mat Razi being regarded as an ustaz (religious teacher), saying the former Tumpat district deputy education officer was not fit to be addressed as 'ustaz' because he was once a civil servant and dressed formally when carrying out his religious duties.    
 
Recently, a blog negarapakatanrakyat.blogspot.com believed to belong to the opposition claimed that the BN candidate had had an affair with a former student.    
 
Mat Razi claimed the allegation was solely created by the opposition.    
 
Meanwhile, Mat Razi said the campaign to capture the hearts of the voters was going on smoothly and almost 70 percent of the constituency had been visited.    
 
However, despite being busy campaigning for the by-election, he has not neglected his Pondok Simpangan religious school.    
 
"Routines are practised every morning, that is after the 'Subuh' prayers I will read the 'Yassin' together with my students and after breakfast, I will instruct the students to perform the 'Duha' prayers.    
 
The by-election is being held following the death of BN's Noor Zahidi Omar from liver cancer on Aug 20.    
 
In the by-election, Mat Razi will face off PAS' Wan Rosdi and Independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary, 47.    
 
In the 13th general election, Noor Zahidi defeated PKR candidate Saharun Ibrahim and Izat Bukhary, who was also an Independent candidate, with a majority of 1,736 votes.
