The 60th PAS annual general assembly which opened in Johor today has expressed condolences to the families of the passengers and crew of two ill-fated flights of Malaysia Airlines (MAS).
    
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (left), in his opening speech at the assembly, said all party members expressed their sorrow over the downing of Flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine and the disappearance of Flight MH370.
    
He said they prayed for the families of the victims of the two flights to have patience and perseverance in their bereavement.
    
"This assembly takes the opportunity to record its condolences to and share in the grief of the families of those who were in the missing Flight MH370 and Flight MH17 that was shot down by irresponsible people," he said when addressing the assembly, which carries the theme 'Continuing the Commitment to Serve', at Parit Salleh Ros, Parit Raja, here.
    
Hadi said PAS urged the authorities and the Malaysian government to utilise every resource to find out what happened to the two flights.
   
Flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew on board. The Boeing777-200 aircraft is believed to have been shot down over the troubled country.  
    
Besides 43 Malaysians, nationals from the Netherlands, Australia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, the Philippines, Canada and New Zealand were among the 298 people on board. 
    
Thus far, the remains of 224 of the victims have been identified. The remains of 41 Malaysians have been identified so far. 
    
Flight MH370 dropped off radar on March 8 as it flew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 227 passengers and 12 crew on board.  
    
The Boeing 777 aircraft has yet to be found, even after an exhaustive search in the southern Indian Ocean where it is believed to have gone down after veering off course.
