PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin has called on Muhyiddin Yassin to take full responsibility for the UPSR examination papers leak and resign.

"This is on top of all the past examination leakages that happened during his tenure.

"It is a shame for our country that people need to resort to such measures just to pass an examination. Printing examination questions in the UK is not the answer," she said.

Although several parties are at fault for this unfortunate event, Zuraida said Muhyiddin must take the lead to show that Malaysia is serious in wanting a culture of integrity and honesty.

"For that to happen, it must be cultivated from the top. We do not want a generation of youngsters who take the easy way out all the time," she added.

Muhyiddin, who is the deputy prime minister, also oversees the education portfolio.

Meanwhile, Zuraida noted that examinations are needed to gauge the proficiency of  students and the latter must put in hard work too.

"Cheating at this level, especially UPSR, puts us in a quandary, that, if not nipped in the bud may unveil even more problems in the future.

"We may pride ourselves for good grades and a high education but that should not come at the expense of good moral values.

"What we instill in our children must be to our best effort to build a nation that is wise and strong. That is our job as guardians of the younger generation," added the Ampang MP.
