Before the Prime Minister has barely taken a breath, warmed his seat and appointed his cabinet, the watchful public and opposition are bearing down on him pronouncing disappointment and failure.

The PM's plate is full. He has much to do. A chance to walk his talk would require a little more time. Given that the current entrenched system has been in place for the last, say, 22 years, to undo any policy or to effect any fundamental change would surely necessitate a transition.

He needs time to make good his pledges, fulfil his promises and, yes, to do things his way. And why not? Why should he dance to every person's tune?

Yes, we have been promised too much too soon. But we have given him the mandate. Now let him settle down, work through his own agenda and timing. In all fairness, these are the early days yet. You can hardly pass any judgement at this point.

Think. Just six months ago, we were not even allowed to have an opinion let alone a voice. Give the poor man a break. Rome was not built in a day. Let's talk again in a year's time.
