PKR has postponed its next course of action regarding the Selangor menteri besar post pending a reply from the monarch to the party's latest letter.

PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim made the stand when proposals were raised during the party's political bureau meeting last night to submit additional names to the ruler.

As for the exact content of the letter, which was sent to the palace yesterday, Malaysiakini was informed that only Anwar and party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution are privy to it.

It is learnt that it could be a reiteration of the apology issued yesterday to the palace and the explanation that PKR was adhering to convention in submitting a single name.

Anwar has also requested for an audience with the sultan.

However, Saifuddin claimed to be in the dark about the content of the letter.

Speaking after last night's meeting, Saifuddin said: "The letter has been sent. It was signed by the president (Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail). I don’t know what the content is about."

"At the meeting (last night), the president informed that the letter had been sent and the palace confirmed receiving it," he told the media.

Yesterday, both Anwar and DAP apologised to the palace, which accused them of being insolent and defiant for not complying with the sultan's request to submit more names.

PKR and DAP had insisted on nominating Wan Azizah for the post to replace incumbent Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

In a Twitter post later, Anwar described the Malaysiakini report as "concocted" but did not elaborate.

PKR vice-president Tian Chua has denied that the party has postponed submitting more names to the palace.

"No such thing. We are already in touch with the palace, and will wait for the reply," he said in a text message to the Star Online.
