'Hadi Move' rocks PAS and PKR, threatens split

 

FellowMalaysian: Giving two sets of names to the sultan within hours and both proposals made by the president of PAS? And everyone else in PAS' own central committee or other senior Pakatan leaders have been kept in the dark about these two lists?

 

If what is reported proved to be true, party president Abdul Hadi Awang has just made a mockery of not only himself but also of his own party.

 

PAS' indecision over their dilemma of whether to abide by their pledges with Pakatan Rakyat parties or to appease to the sultan's wishes stood up like a sore thumb and has left the party in total disarray.

 

PAS' sincerity and commitment towards its other component parties is now seriously in doubt and this latest faux pas will no doubt make both PKR and DAP become more wary of PAS' next moves.

 

Whatever reason PAS may have for presenting the two lists, it amounts to a bad move.

RZC: PAS and Hadi are playing the fool with the constitution and disrespecting the sultan by offering names that do not enjoy any support of the state assembly at all except his sole personal support.

 

His own members don't know the names and therefore can't be said to support the nominees. What a mockery PAS and Hadi and his supporters have made of party rules? How can they ever seek to rule a state, let alone a country.

 

MfM: Has anyone ever thought that the sultan could have directly requested Hadi to provide a list to him? You think PAS is out to disrespect the sultan by not bowing to Tuanku's request?

 

Openly defying the sultan is the stupidest thing anyone can do. Constitutional monarchy we are, but the sultan's power at state level is there in the constitution and they need to be respected and followed.

 

Oracle: Why are "confusion, shock, outrage" being displayed by PKR leaders now? Are they so simple minded that they never saw all the signs of duplicity and obfuscation that characterised this saga?

 

Kick out PAS unceremoniously now. With their intransigent stance on hudud, the coalition at best is a coalition of convenience and certainly not a foundation for future governance.

 

‘Bungkus’ (wrap) them with a pretty yellow ribbon and deliver them to Umno as soon as possible. Show some guts - you still have the majority to govern. And show that you will only compromise on issues but never on principles, and never with a backstabbing partner.

 

Is PKR afraid to work hard to win the confidence of all races, or by clinging to an unfaithful two-timing partner, are you saying that you are not a multiracial party?

 

If the answer is "yes" to both, then please dissolve the coalition instead continuing the charade that you are, collectively, governing material.

 

Ferdtan: 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'. But this is no woman, it is the PAS president.

 

One person, due to his intense 'hatred' of a leader of his coalition partner, has lost it and he has unilaterally decided against his own party central committee's decision on the candidates to be submitted to the sultan names of his own choice, which are different from what had been agreed.

 

How can Hadi, a president of a party, or any party at that, not abide by the decision of almost a full-house central committee meeting on Aug 17? Then what is the point of having the much-awaited meeting when decisions made are not followed?

 

PAS syura council, which came out with the statement of taking responsibility of such irresponsible act by the PAS president, was a hurried statement to save the president, knowing he would be severely censured by all PAS members.

 

The submission of the names to the palace, twice, was through the PAS president’s office, obviously with the president’s authority, was a guarded secret that even I believe the syura members are not aware of.

 

A crack appearing in PAS and PKR? No, the crack is only in PAS. Hadi, in his haste, did not think through carefully his strategy. Vindictiveness overclouds his mind.

 

As earlier thought, he was aiming to divide PKR by naming party’s deputy president Azmin Ali instead of PKR's choice, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

 

He, by not naming Azmin Ali now in his submission, in fact has unwittingly made PKR leaders, some from Azmin's faction, more unified behind Anwar Ibrahim.

 

Even though Azmin had earlier declined the 'offer' from PAS president, we were afraid he may change his mind.

 

But the greatest fear is that the two PAS Aduns (state assemblypersons) who supported Wan Azizah changed their mind. That strategic move by the two rebelling PAS Aduns really saved the Pakatan government.

 

Gerard Lourdesamy: Since all three parties are at odds about the MB candidate, the sultan should convene an emergency session of the state legislative council to test the support of each candidate.

 

Since Wan Azizah has the support of 30 Aduns from PKR, DAP and PAS, she will carry the vote easily and after that the sultan can appoint her as MB. If no candidate can get the requisite 29 votes, the sultan should then dissolve the Legislative Council and call for fresh elections.

 

I am certain that PKR and DAP will win more than enough seats to form the state government without PAS. Let PAS decide its own future at the coming party congress.

 

PKR and DAP should not dignify that ‘traitor’ Hadi Awang by asking PAS to leave Pakatan but let the coward make the fatal decision on his own and hang himself. PAS is going to split because of Hadi's own stupidity.

 

Hank Marvin: Hadi Awang has been playing this game several times already. Remember PAS put a candidate in Kota Damansara and Sungai Acheh state seats in the last GE13?

 

The authorisation letters came from Hadi who bypassed secretary-general Mustafa Ali's office. Hadi Awang is really a cheat and dishonest man pretending to be a cleric.
