There's a persistent rumour saying that former Pahang chief minister, Khalil Yaakob would be named as Malacca governor after this general election.

With his impeccable and outstanding track record overseeing the Pahang state government, especially managing the state's natural resources efficiently, we would not wish to rob Pahang of one of their esteemed leaders. We are certain the people of Pahang would feel very much indebted and would be jumping in delight to welcome back their long lost son.

We hereby appeal to our Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, to consider and rescind this appointment.

We appreciate our PM's good intention but in the land of Tuah, Jebat, Kasturi, Lekir and Lekiu, we are never short of our own illustrious leaders. By all means, we would welcome Khalil as a guest to our historic home as throughout history, the people of Melaka had munificently welcoming merchants, dignitaries, immigrants and fortune seekers alike.

And also by history, we have learned not to embrace any sordid visitors who would betray our trust and generosity.
