Newly-elected PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has successfully garnered back support from his executive committee members who staged a walkout during his maiden speech as the party’s Youth chief.

Now, two days later, the majority of his exco members were seen together with him at a press conference after the party’s national congress ended today.

The incident last Friday witnessed 16 exco members, dissatisfied with his victory for top Youth post, walked out when Nik Nazmi began his speech.

Nik Nazmi won the post on a slim majority, after a recount of votes of the Pensiangan division in Sabah, defeating contenders Amirudin Shari and Mohd Nazree Yunus.

Nevertheless, Nik Nazmi, who is also Seri Setia assemblyperson, said he had discussed with his deputy, Dr Afif Bahardin, in reaching an understanding to discuss issues of the party elections, internally.

“The Youth central leadership has agreed that all issues related to the central election committee will be discussed through the party’s internal channels.

“I am confident that all members understand that winning or losing is normal when competing,” he said.

Despite this, Nik Nazmi, is still expected to face hurdles since all his allies in the party's Youth wing election lost to the allies of Amirudin.
