Shamsul warns of 'devil's play' to split Pakatan

PKR CONGRESS Out-going PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has warned party members of a devil's play going on to split Pakatan Rakyat by getting component party members to leave the coalition.
Shamsul, who is also Bukit Katil MP, said “party warlords” have tried to create a rift in the wake of the Selangor menteri besar issue.

Shamsul who is also Bukit Katil MP, said “party warlords” have tried to create a rift in the wake of the Selangor menteri besar issue.
Without naming anybody, he warned these are all "the devil's play," to break up Pakatan.
"There is no meaning to continuing our struggle if we do not work to strengthen Pakatan Rakyat," said Shamsul, who has been elected as a PKR vice-president.
"Experienced leaders, like the late (PAS president) Fadzil Mohd Nor and DAP’s Lim Kit Siang, who have vast political experience, realise this.
"We cannot head to Putrajaya alone," he said in his speech at the launching the PKR Youth wing congress in Shah Alam today.
Shamsul also cited as an example PKR’s de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim’s experience in the twist and turns of politics and is certain he will not be enticed by the “whispers”.
“Some have voiced out their readiness to lose Selangor, and some called for the dissolution of the Selangor state assembly.
"These are all crazy and deviant thoughts," he said.
He said the people were closely scrutinising Pakatan Rakyat.
”They want to see if this party has the capability to become a strong and solid coalition to lead this country, and not just a coalition coming together to face a common enemy - the BN,” added Shamsul.
Selangor plunged into crisis after Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim defied his party's instructions to step down.
'Veiled swipe at PAS chief'
PKR subsequently sacked him from the party and Khalid retaliated by expelling PKR and DAP members of the state executive council.
The crisis was prolonged as PAS was initially adamant about backing Khalid, but the party last Sunday withdrew support for the now party-less menteri besar.
Shamsul attributed the crisis to the lack of commitment in Pakatan's discussion process and poor discipline in adhering to the results achieved.
"It''ll be worse, if the agreement reached was refuted by key party leaders who did not attend the meeting.
"Relying on the adviser behind the scenes, far from the meeting would further complicate the situation," he said in a veiled swipe at PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meeting, which included PAS leaders, had in a July 23 decision resolved to replace Khalid with Wan Azizah.
However, Abdul Hadi later unilaterally backed Khalid, forcing PKR to sack the defiant menteri besar from the party.
Abdul Hadi on Monday finally said that backing Khalid was no longer an issue as he was not a PKR member anymore.
However, Wan Azizah must overcome the final hurdle, which is to obtain the endorsement of the state palace before she can assume the menteri besar's seat.
