A DAP Youth leader has urged controversial columnist Ridhuan Tee Abdullah to apologise for stoking racial tensions by linking the Selangor menteri besar crisis to a pig farming proposal.

Selangor DAP Youth assistant secretary Mohammad Firdaus Babh said that Ridhuan’s column on the matter "clearly had ill-intentions against the DAP".

"His statement is not reflective of a professor," he said in a statement yesterday.

Ridhuan on Aug 18 linked the criticism against MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s administration with a RM100 million pig farming project that never took off.

Ridhuan said that if the project goes through, Selangor could be known as 'darul babi' and lead to residents' unease, especially among Muslims.

His column was followed by a statement by Malay rights NGO Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, who linked the pig farming to the DAP.

Ibrahim did so by claiming that DAP had managed to use PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to control Selangor to get what it wants, including the mass pig farm.

Meanwhile, Firdaus said that it is common knowledge that the pig farm project was proposed before Pakatan Rakyat took over Selangor in 2008.

"This is not the first time Ridhuan and Ibrahim tried to sow hatred among Malaysians.

"Sadly, all complaints and reports by Malaysians (against the duo) are not taken seriously by the authorities," he said.

He said that the police could take action immediately without the need for a police report, as it did in the case of convicted road bully Siti Fairrah Ashyikin Kamaruddin.
