The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has summoned PKR over its disciplinary board's action, believed to be over the sacking of Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

However, he told Malaysiakini that the letter did not mention Khalid’s sacking from the party on Aug 9.

"The ROS summoned the party over the alleged wrongdoing of the disciplinary board and the central leadership," he said.

Following his sacking, Khalid had filed a complaint with the ROS, claiming that his dismissal was wrongful and violated the party's constitution.

Meeting postponed

When contacted, Subang MP R Sivarasa, who is expected to accompany Tan, told Malaysiakini that the meeting is set for Aug 28.

“I just received a letter from the ROS, stating that the interrogation has been postponed,” he said.

He also confirmed that the letter did not specify what the alleged wrongdoing is.

“We assume that it is related to the sacking of Khalid,” said Sivarasa (right), adding that the party was being investigated under Section 66 of the Societies Act.

Sivarasa however said the party will first clarify with the ROS on what the alleged wrongdoing is.

He also believes that the interrogation is politically motivated, stating that it was only an attempt to “harass the party”.

“It’s obvious that any political party can discipline its members. Sacking members is something that political parties do.

“I cannot recall the ROS calling MCA, MIC or Umno when they sacked or suspended their members,” he said.
