A 23-year-old fishmonger was charged in the Magistrate’s Court in Kuching today with the murder of two British medical students earlier this month.

However, no plea was taken from Zulkipli Abdullah, who faced two charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which were read out before Magistrate Portia Tham.

Tham ordered the case to be further mentioned on Sept 19 this year pending further instructions from the senior federal counsel.

Zulkipli is charged for murdering Aidan Brunger, 22, and Neil Dalton, 23, between 4.10am and 4.15am on Aug 6 at Jalan Abell in Kuching.

Four other suspects, who were arrested together with the accused in connection with the murder, were released on police bond of RM20,000 and one surety.

Deputy public prosecuter Mirza Mohamad appeared for the prosecution.
