With the possibility of the Sultan of Selangor rejecting PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as menteri besar of the state, PKR says it will only cross the bridge when it gets there.
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution told Malaysiakini that the party would wait for the sultan’s return before making further plans on the matter.
“We should not pre-empt what the palace is going to do. We should focus on waiting for the sultan’s return,” Saifuddin (right) said.
The sultan, who is currently in Hungary, is due to return on Aug 27.
Yesterday, the ruler turned down the request of Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to meet him in Budapest to discuss the current crisis beleaguering the state.
Meanwhile, speculation has been rife that the sultan might not consent to Wan Azizah helming the state.
PAS claims to have “heard” that the Selangor palace has rejected the proposal for Wan Azizah to take over as menteri besar.
However, PKR insists that the sultan has not rejected Wan Azizah’s bid to helm the state.
PAS on Sunday dealt Khalid with a devastating blow after the Islamic party supported the proposal to replace the menteri besar.
PAS went on to propose Wan Azizah as well as her deputy Azmin Ali (left) as candidates for the post of Selangor menteri besar.
However, both PKR and Pakatan Rakyat agreed to submit only Wan Azizah's name to the palace.
