Pakatan Rakyat, give Ubah a chance

Removing a prime minister, deputy prime minister or menteri besar using internal party process with political charges and to pressure and force a resignation using the might of machinery and supporters, then forcing it on the rakyat is Mahathirism. Dirty files, mass pressure, forced resignation and trial by media is the way of the past.
Impeachment from public office for whatever reason must be done objectively with due process in an open legal forum transparently with the interest of public and rights. The menteri besar is not merely another party employee and even if so, such an employee deserves the due process and rights as a human being.
Even the high office of Bill Clinton was slapped with a public impeachment for an immoral act with proper democratic means, despite the trial by media.
This is Change or Ubah because the people have voted for the government under their leadership and they have the right to know and be told in an utmost transparent way on the reason for the removal and it must be done with due process in a just and democratic manner.
The question of selection and candidacy of an MB as per convention remains without a doubt an internal party decision, or that of a coalition, but it must be exercised in adherence to principles of democracy, justice and rights due to the public nature of the office and a person’s right and integrity.
The parties should look beyond the mere technicalities and rise to the occasion with governing procedures and methods inclusive of the ‘rakyat’ and adhere to it. It is a matter of justice and democratic best practices.
Change or Ubah is not just a change of brand with the same formula, it’s a fundamental change from an old bad system to new progressive one. It’s time to demonstrate it even in the toughest of time and situation.
It is 2014 and the rakyat is intelligent enough and have matured to deal with political challenges and direction as we witnessed in the 2013 general election, so let’s not sideline them and treat them like a puppet for our short-term political benefits or personal reasons.

Refer Khalid Ibrahim to your own state government’s Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) if he did anything wrong to warrant a removal and act on him with a motion and debate in the Dewan Undangan Negeri and the rakyat will applaud you. Thank you.
