The police have crippled a syndicate selling fake medical certificates (MC), following the arrest of two men in separate raids in Shah Alam on Wednesday.
Shah Alam police chief ACP Azisman Alias said the suspects, aged 22 and 32, were believed to have been involved in the scam for more than a year.
He said the first suspect, who worked as a despatch rider at a petrol station in Section 19 in Shah Alam, was nabbed about 11pm when a policeman posed as a customer.
“This led to the arrest of the other suspect at a house in Section 18 here where several items used to produce fake medical certificate, such as stamp pad and a medical certificate book were seized,” he told a media conference at the Shah Alam police headquarters today.
Azisman said initial investigations revealed that fake medical certificates were sold for between RM15 and RM20, depending on the employment sector.
He said the suspects were remanded for three days to facilitate investigations.
