Resign for misleading sultan, Khalid told

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has misled the state ruler by claiming that he commanded the majority in the state assembly, said veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang.

"The only honourable way for Khalid to purge his grave wrong of misleading the sultan... is to resign gracefully," he added.
Lim said it is now "crystal clear" that Khalid is hanging on to the post solely on the support of the 12 Umno and BN reps.
Lim said that Khalid was "duty and honour bound to verify first if he still commanded the support of the majority in the state assembly to continue as MB before making any representation on the matter with the sultan.
He also said that Khalid's refusal to step down despite PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (right) now claiming to have the majority support from 30 assemblypersons to become the next MB, showed his desire to "cling on" to the post.
"(This) reflects Khalid’s state of mind to have a last-ditch stand to cling on to the mentri besar’s post for as long as possible, instead of facilitating a democratic transition of power," Lim said.
He asked if Khalid was "prepared" to uphold the state constitution by calling for an emergency state assembly sitting since had the power to do so, in order to determine his support.
