PAS assemblyperson Saari Sungib has expressed his readiness to leave PAS if the party is still in support of Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim after the party’s central executive committee meeting this Sunday.

“I am willing to do so (leave PAS) if PAS remains with its stand (for Khalid to remain as menteri besar),” the Hulu Kelang assemblyperson told reporters today.

Apart from Saari, Morib assemblyperson Hasnul Baharuddin had also expressed support for PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (right) to replace Khalid.

They said they did so based on PAS’ policy which is to be with Pakatan Rakyat.

Saari said that his decision was made based on the PAS policy.

“I support this policy to enable Pakatan Rakyat to continue administering the state of Selangor,” he said.

He was also confident that the other 13 PAS reps will follow in his and Hasnul’s footsteps.

“I believe that other PAS assemblypersons will also make the same decision,” Saari said.

Hasnul (left) was also present at the Empire Hotel in Subang where Wan Azizah held a press conference this afternoon.

Wan Azizah had earlier announced that she has the majority in the Selangor state assembly to become the next menteri besar after the two PAS state reps expressed their backing for her.

Support from the two PAS reps would mean that Wan Azizah now has 30 state assemblypersons backing her in the 56-member assembly, following all PKR and DAP assemblypersons declaring their support earlier.

Meanwhile, Saari said he was confident that the PAS central executive council meeting this Sunday will decide that the party will continue to remain in Pakatan.

“After Aug 17, I believe PAS will continue to remain in Pakatan. I don’t think strengthening Pakatan in Selangor is against PAS,” he said.

Hasnul, on the other hand, said that Khalid’s administration no longer upholds the spirit of Pakatan after he announced that a Pakatan government is no longer in existence in Selangor.

“I’ve decided to make the same decision as Saari in support of a Pakatan government in Selangor.”

Criticising Khalid, he said that the menteri besar was only destroying the state by the hour.

“He’s destroying the state not from week to week but on an hourly basis,” he asserted.
