PKR and DAP Selangor executive council members today announced that they will avoid Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, except when dealing with him in the weekly state exco meeting.
 
"We, the exco members from PKR and DAP, will not meet with Abdul Khalid - except during weekly state exco meeting to avoid any discussion about our respective parties' stance," the six exco members said in a joint statement this afternoon.
 
The statement was signed by DAP's Teng Chang Khim (right), V Ganabatirau and Ean Wong Hian Wah and PKR's Rodziah Ismail, Elizabeth Wong and Daroyah Alwi.
 
The state exco meeting is normally held on every Wednesday. 
 
The six said they respected the Selangor sultan's consenting to Abdul Khalid continuing as the state government's chief.
 
However, they stressed Abdul Khalid is a transitional menteri besar pending his replacement taking over.
 
"Any exco decision must be voted on to ensure Abdul Khalid's function is limited to his transitional capacity," they said.
 
The six also stressed the transition will be done in accordance to the state constitution.
 
In the meantime, they said they will proceed with their exco duties as usual.
 
PKR, which has found it difficult to work with Abdul Khalid, had instructed him to step down as menteri besar to be replaced by party president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (right).
 
But Abdul Khalid refused, prompting his expulsion from PKR last Saturday.
 
He subsequently obtained consent from the Selangor sultan to remain as menteri besar after claiming he still has majority support in the House.
 
PKR and DAP have agreed to have Abdul Khalid replaced but PAS, which has four exco members, remains the sole dissenting partner in Pakatan.
 
PAS will continue its duties in exco

Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Ab Samad when met by reporters, said the PAS exco will continue to support Khalid and will continue with its duties, while waiting for the party's central leadership decision on Aug 17.

"We do not know what the party’s central leadership will decide. Only Allah knows.

"PAS exco members will continue with their work for the benefit of the people. We abide by the Selangor sultan's decision yesterday," he said. 

Iskandar who is state committee chairperson for housing, building management and squatters, admitted meeting Khalid today but not to discuss exco related issues but Selangor housing and estate board matters.

Former state PAS commissioner and Meru assemblyperson Dr Abd Rani Othman also declined to say much, except to wait for the party’s decision on Aug 17.

However he personally felt that PAS should remain in Pakatan.
