Pro-Khalid rally aborted at MB's request

A rally in support of Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today was abruptly cancelled after the Selangor menteri besar personally asked that it be aborted.
A rally in support of Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today was abruptly cancelled after the Selangor menteri besar personally asked that it be aborted.
The rally, organised by Pakatan Anak Selangor Sokong Menteri Besar (Pasmeb), was meant to protest Abdul Khalid's sacking from PKR yesterday which has now left him a party-less menteri besar.
Pasmeb chief Mazli Saring (left) told journalists the planned rally at the Selangor menteri besar official residence in Shah Alam was supposed to start at 2pm.
However, he said Abdul Khalid had called him up an hour before that and asked the rally to be called off.
"The program should have gone on today but we were advised by the menteri besar (not to do so).
He added they were also asked not to make any more statements to the media until further instructions.
Respect for royal council
Mazli said the cancellation was also out of respect of the Selangor Royal Council which has said it will meet tomorrow to deliberate on Abdul Khalid's position.
He also took a swipe at PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who has been nominated by the party to replace Abdul Khalid, questioning if Selangor wanted a menteri besar who is not from the state.
"See what PKR has done, a menteri besar who is Selangorian is to be replaced by a menteri besar who is not a Selangorian.
"I feel Selangorians can evaluate for themselves whether they should support her (Wan Azizah) or Khalid who is truly a son of Selangor," he said. Wan Azizah was born in Kedah.
