An eight-year-old girl died after her neck become stuck in the window grille of her room in an incident at Kampung Losong Feri in Kuala Terengganu yesterday.
An eight-year-old girl died after her neck become stuck in the window grille of her room in an incident at Kampung Losong Feri in Kuala Terengganu yesterday.
During the incident, the victim, Nurliana Mazlan, was believed to have been trapped when trying to leave the room, after finding the door locked.
The incident was discovered by family members several hours later, at 3.30pm, and subsequently called the Fire and Rescue Department.
Several villagers also tried to extricate Nurliana, a Year Two pupil at Sekolah Kebangsaan Losong in Kuala Terengganu from the grille, but failed.
Meanwhile, Kuala Terengganu Fire and Rescue Station operation commander Badrul Hisham Othman said a call on the incident was received at 4.15pm.
He said firemen rushed to the house and sent the victim to the Sultanan Nur Zahirah Hospital after rescuing her, but she was confirmed dead when treated at 5.30pm.
