I refer to Rahshu's letter 'Kamaluddin and Nik Adli: A tale of two sons'.

While I share his sentiment, I think it is not the only case of hypocrisy, cronyism and nepotism on the part of the Barisan Nasional government.

Have we not noticed the recent royal pardon granted to Jackie Chan, a man publicly alleged or insinuated by the Umno media to be a leader of a murderous (literally speaking) triad during the height of the MCA's power struggle between Dr Ling Liong Sik's protege, Ong Ka Ting and Lim Ah Lek's protege, Chan Kong Choy? Jackie Chan was said to be closely related to Ong, the MCA president now.

Why was Jackie Chan detained and released (in early or mid-1990s), and again detained (during the MCA power struggle) and pardoned now, without ever being charged in an open court for crimes he reportedly committed?

On the other hand, a respectable former deputy prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, is still unable to get bail for crimes that have never been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Moreover, his so-called "convictions" is still being widely and authoritatively questioned domestically and internationally.

Anwar is not even granted permission to seek medical treatment overseas on compassionate grounds. What kind of loving and caring society BN leaders (including PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) and their professional apologists are talking about?

So, my advice to BN leaders is simple: don't hide behind smiling faces and the sophistry of professional apologists because the ordinary people are not that stupid or blind. We can see the hypocrisy, double-standards, cronyism, nepotism and conspiracy of the ruling elites, even though we ordinary working people have no time to talk about it everyday.

But when the elections come, I am sure most of us know what to do with the votes in our hands.
