Malay rights group Perkasa has proposed that a Selangor PAS assemblyperson be appointed as the new menteri besar to resolve the state’s imbroglio.
Malay rights group Perkasa has proposed that a Selangor PAS assemblyperson be appointed as the new menteri besar to resolve the state’s imbroglio.
Its president Ibrahim Ali said PAS certainly will find it difficult in accepting a woman (PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) to replace present MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
“There is no reason not to accept a candidate from PAS to be the Selangor MB. PAS have 15 assemblyperson and they are all from Selangor and have good character, capability, and are accepted by the Selangor sultan.
“In Perak, Pakatan accepted a PAS candidate to be the menteri besar and hence there is no reason not to accept a candidate from PAS in Selangor, and Pakatan would not be seen as fighting for their personal interests as some have alleged.”
Ibrahim said this in a text message.
It is reported that PKR wants Wan Azizah to be the new menteri besar, while PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and its influential spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat is determined to have Khalid remain as MB although he has lost the confidence of his party.
This has created friction in Pakatan as DAP also wants Khalid to be replaced.
Yesterday, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said they wanted Khalid be removed due to integrity issues following the out-of-court settlement to his controversial RM66 million loan which Khalid took to purchase Guthrie shares.
Ibrahim said if a PAS assemblyperson becomes MB it would result in political stability in Selangor.
He said the notion that Selangor is PKR’s, Penang is DAP’s and Kelantan is PAS’ is not a certainty.
“It is accepted if there is no problem. If there is a problem then find a useful and new formula in the interests of the people,” he said.
