Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has decided to temporarily close its nine aircraft parking bays, K2-K18, in KLIA2 after being advised by the Kuala Lumpur Aviation Fuelling System (KAFS) that there was a pressure drop in their jet fuelling system.

"As an airport operator that considers airport and passenger safety a matter of priority, MAHB views this matter seriously.

"While there is no immediate cause for concern, this measure is taken as a safety precaution, as well as, to allow KAFS to perform a thorough check," the airport operator said in a statement yesterday.

It said the temporary closure of bays K2-K18 is estimated to last until midnight on Sunday, Aug 3, and MAHB would be guided by KAFS in facilitating any possible repair works.

MAHB has had meetings with all relevant stakeholders, including major airline operators operating from klia2, in order to keep all parties updated.

It does not anticipate any major disruption to airport operations, as the terminal has sufficient parking bays for airlines to use.

As part of its operating procedure, MAHB has informed the Department of Environment on the matter.
