PAS has thus far not approached Selangor Umno about a possible collaboration to form the state government.

Confirming this, Selangor Umno secretary Johan Abdul Aziz said that no PAS leader has come to see them on this matter.

The Semenyih assemblyperson also believes that the leaked screenshot of the WhatsApp conversations among PAS leaders was “merely chit-chat”, The Star reported today.

Referring to PAS central committee member Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki (right), who had outlined a scenario of teaming up with Umno, Johan said it was perhaps Zuhdi’s personal opinion.

As to whether Umno was willing to work with PAS, Johan said such matters would have to be discussed with the party leadership.

“If Pakatan has failed to manage the state, it should give Barisan Nasional a chance to lead.

“We are not greedy for power but there is a need to focus on issues faced by the rakyat,” Johan added.

In the leaked screenshot of the WhatsApp conversations, Zuhdi outlined a scenario on how PAS could defect from Pakatan and later form a simple majority government in Selangor with the help of Umno assemblypersons, and keep Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as the menteri besar.

Meanwhile, Selangor Umno deputy chief Abdul Shukur Idrus said the party would not get involved in the internal problems plaguing the state government.

The Kuang assemblyperson said anybody who wanted to combine forces with Umno would have to confer directly with party president Najib Abdul Razak.
