It is with shock to read Malaysian Bar president Kuthubul Zaman Bukhari's admission that he had personally carried postal ballots for the Bar Council elections.

Kudus to Manjeet Singh Dhillon for attempting to bring this matter to the attention of the council. Shame on you, the 23 councillors, for not realising the 'wrong' you have committed.

The old saying 'justice must be seen to be done' is applicable in this situation. The postal ballot is exactly what it means: it must be posted. That is the spirit and essence of the postal ballot. The candidates cannot and should not carry them personally. Clearly, these persons have violated the letter and spirit of the law.

Yet, these are our so-called 'guardians of the law', so desperate to get into office that they will stoop to such tricks. Who are you to criticise others when the very office you hold has been obtained by questionable methods?

There has been many other incidents wherein these holders of these position have abused the system and broken the law, but can anyone bring these persons to book? Try and you will find yourself being prosecuted and persecuted by the Bar Council, who has a continuing policy of persecuting anyone one who dares to challenge them.

But in Manjeet Singh Dhillon, the Bar Council has met its match.

Mr Dhillon, please be assured that we, the young members of the legal profession have been waiting for you to come in from the cold (so to speak). There are more shenanigans that is going on inside. Secretariat staff will tell you the details if you can protect them from being deprived of their livelihoods. To members of the public, please wake up and listen to the truth.
