The Selangor government will ensure sufficient water supply during the festive season despite the water level drop in the reservoirs due to dry weather.            
 
Youth and Sports, Infrastructure and Public Facilities Permanent Committee chairperson Ahmad Yunus Hairi said the state government through the Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) had taken mitigating measures, one of which was to resort to the water pools in Bestari Jaya.    
 
"Luas will maintain a 24-hour operation at the alternative water reserve at the Bestari Jaya pools to maximise capacity.          
 
"The operation will be coordinated by staff of Luas, state Drainage and Irrigation Department and Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd," he said.  
 
He said 20 pumps had been installed to drain water from the pools to the river and seven other pumps, to siphon river water into the pools during high tide.          
 
He said to ensure smooth operation, a room had been set up at the building located near the pools to monitor operations.      
 
"The People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) and Royal Malaysian Police would be around to ensure staff and operation security," he said.    
 
Meanwhile, Ahmad Yunos said his committee had, during a Water Supply Monitoring Committee meeting with the National Security Council, requested for the Royal Malaysian Air Force to carry out large scale cloud seeding.  
 
"We are waiting for the council's feedback. Given the current hot and dry weather, we will rely on the meterorological department's advice on the appropriate time for the cloud seeding operations," he said.
