'Balik Tongsan' remark inappropriate, says MCA

MCA Youth vice-chairperson Tan Kok Eng said today the “balik Tongsan” remark made by Umno Federal Territory Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii was inappropriate.

In several tweets yesterday, directed at Tan Poh See, the wife of Tanjung MP Ng Wei Aik, Razlan told her to “balik Tongsan”.
The tweets were in response to Tan, also known as Yuki Tan, who had posted on the popular social networking site, Facebook: “Malaysia is a scary nation, what kind of useless country is this?”, following the downing of MH17.
Kok Eng said Razlan should have simply stated that Yuki’s statement was an embarrassment to the country.
“Politicians must desist from spewing any remark that carries racial overtones as not only does such sputter bode ill-feelings, it also unwittingly drags in the party they represent,” he said.
While noting that Yuki has since withdrawn her posting, Kok Eng urged the DAP to teach its members to practice decency and compassion.
“In the first place, were Yuki and DAP even aware that the geographical location of Donetsk sits on a completely different continent, so very far away from Malaysia?” he asked.
