PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has denied Sarawak DAP’s claim that he has been keeping silent on the hudud issue in Pakatan Rakyat.

Anwar said on the latest occasion, he had touched on the issue at a forum held at the Royal Selangor Club on July 9.

"Contrary to Sarawak DAP’s statement, I already spoke about the matter two weeks ago,” he said.

“It was related to justice for all, regardless of their race or religion. I made specific reference to the hudud issue in Kelantan,” Anwar said at the PKR headquarters last night.

DAP Sarawak on Sunday made a resolution to pull out from the state Pakatan coalition if PAS did not revoke its intention to implement hudud in Kelantan.

It also expressed disappointment with PKR for its silence on the matter.

However, yesterday PAS Sarawak retorted that it will not stop DAP Sarawak from  pulling out from Pakatan.

However, Sarawak PAS commissioner Adam Ahid (left) advised DAP Sarawak leaders to think rationally as “taking the wrong move will destroy them”.

Meanwhile, Anwar said that the Private Member’s Bill for the implementation of hudud by the Kelantan government was the state’s initiative and not that of Pakatan.

As such, he believes that Pakatan components in the other states should not be worried about it.

"It is not a Pakatan Rakyat bill. There has been no consensus on the bill,” Anwar said.

He added that he would be meeting with the Pakatan leaders in Sarawak on the matter soon.

“I will bring the speech I made two weeks ago to the Pakatan Rakyat leaders in Sarawak."
