DAP national vice-chairperson Teresa Kok has lashed out at Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin for not learning his lesson, even after being admonished by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

In a statement today, Kok condemned Bung’s tweet on Siti Fairah Asyikin Kamaruddin, also known as Kiki, for stereotyping women.

"It is obvious that the recalcitrant MP has not taken his reminder seriously,” said the Seputeh MP.

A video of Kiki hurling verbal abuse at 68-year-old retiree Sim Siak Hong and hitting his car with a steering wheel lock went viral on the social media on Tuesday.

"Maybe the Prime Minister should find out if Bung was not happy that he was outdone by Hafarizam Harun,” said Kok.

Hafarizam on Tuesday had said that PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail cannot become Selangor menteri besar because of her menstrual cycle.

Using Kiki as an analogy, Bung yesterday justified a past argument in which he labelled most women drivers as hot tempered.

"I was criticised when I once said that most women drivers are hot tempered. This (my argument) has been proven by Kiki. CDM 25,” Bung said in his tweet yesterday.

However, Kok said the incident did not prove that he was right, but has shown that “he is a misogynist”.

“Kiki’s action has nothing to do with race or gender.

"Bung's eagerness to use the incident to justify his past argument that most women drivers are hot tempered shows his misogynistic attitude," Kok said.

'Tweet apology not sincere'

Kok also urged Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim to put Bung in gender sensitisation and counselling courses to stop him from causing further political embarrassment to the ruling coalition.  

Bung has often landed himself in the limelight for his sexist and disparaging remarks and the recent one was when he hailed Hitler after Germany defeated Brazil 7-1 in a World Cup semifinal.

After Najib admonished the MP, he tweeted his “sincerest apology”, which many considered as being sarcastic.

MCA Youth also slammed Bung for tweeting an image of a green bra next to the capital letters “ZIL” to spell 'Brazil' to a female journalist.

Tracing back his long history of notorious sexist remarks, Kok noted that Kinabatangan lawmaker also once complained in Parliament about her dress, saying that her knees were uncovered.

In 2007, he caused a stir over his “bocor” (leakage) remark, targeting a female MP’s menstrual cycle in the Parliament, but later apologised for it.
