Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is not happy that the police were quick to act on allegations of threats against BN leaders but ignored countless reports he made involving those against him.

Lim said police were quick to detain a 37-year-old man in the Klang Valley on Sunday over death threats involving Kedah Mentri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir and Syed Unan Mashri Syed Abdullah, the principal private secretary to the sultan.

“The police should be bold enough in taking action against anyone regardless of the political affiliations of the complainant, whether they are from BN or Pakatan Rakyat, swift action should be taken,” Lim said during a press conference after attending the state civil servants gathering in Hotel Traders today.

“Is there a double standard here? Maybe Pakatan lives are not that precious?” he asked the police, who acted fast on a police report lodged by Jerlun Umno Youth wing after the alleged threat in a Facebook posting by ‘Padi Jatn’ last Friday.

Lim recalled that last year, he also received a death threat on Twitter from an anonymous person but has yet to hear of any developments in the case, although police said they were probing the matter under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
