PAS' policies breeds extremism, says MCA

PAS’ religious extremism to blame for growing number of extremists in Malaysia, MCA says.
I blame PAS’ political philosophy of religious extremism as the main reason why our nation has been flooded with many religious extremists lately.
It is obvious that PAS attracts extremist as they have projected themselves to be so despite various undertakings by lesser PAS leaders trying to project a moderate face.
PAS in essence and substance is radical and disregards tolerance of multiculturalism or secularism.
They have continued to influence a large segment of the society to the extent that UMNO’s original support of secularism during the times of former Prime Minister’s Tunku Abdul Rahman and Hussein Onn has been withered down.
Reports in the media of many PAS members being involved in foreign militant groups shows that the problem is becoming more and more rampant.
Although PAS had announced that they have sacked the three members wanted by the police for terrorist activities, yet their religious philosophy and extremist ideology remains unchanged.
Thus, it is difficult to ensure that none of their party members will join similar activities in the future.
As such, DAP should review its cooperation with PAS in view of the fact that they have harboured militants and extremists in their rank and file.
DAP should stop looking the other way and tell the people the truth about PAS, instead of being in a denial or being a cover for PAS by claiming that PAS had abandoned their original struggle of establishing a Taliban like state in favor of a welfare state.
Malaysia is a multiracial and multi-religious country, and our Federal Constitution has stated that all citizens are entitled to freedom of belief.
As such, if we fail to uphold our religious freedom, we will be making way for PAS to establish a theocratic state and causing the nation and the people to fall into despair.
In this era of globalization, all Malaysians need to pursue democracy and our basic rights to freedom, instead of going backwards to feudal and conservative teachings.
The majority of Malaysians will not support any form of religious extremism.
