Former Bayu assemblyperson Salleh Yaakob died at the age of 63 at his house in Kampung Carok Putih, Mukim Siong in Baling today.

Salleh, who passed away at 5am, was admitted to the Baling Hospital on Monday for a heart problem and discharged yesterday, said his younger brother, Mohd Taufik.

He said the deceased had been ill for the past few months.

Salleh will be buried after the Asar prayers at the Kampung Carok Putih Muslim Cemetery.

Political secretary to the Kedah Menteri Besar Kedah Azimi Daim was among those who paid their last respects to the deceased.

Salleh is survived by his wife, Azidah Ahad, 56, three children and a grandchild.
