Controversial academic Ridhuan Tee Abdullah has claimed that several MCA people have ruined Gerakan.
He claimed that these individuals dominated Gerakan to the point that it now appears as a racist party.
“Gerakan wants to return to its roots, which is a party for all races. If this is the case, Gerakan must show that it is different and more relevant than MCA.
“Gerakan’s voice must be a Malaysian voice and not a racist voice,” he said.
In his latest article published in Sinar Harian, Ridhuan ( right ) talks about a closed-door meeting between him and Gerakan Youth members.
During the meeting, the academic said he was flooded with queries regarding his incendiary articles and his labelling of the Chinese as “ultra-kiasu”.
He was also asked why he does not write to promote national unity.
The Chinese Muslim convert, who teaches ethnic relations at the Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, explained that he does not sow hatred and his articles do not attack all Chinese.
“Not all Chinese are ultra-kiasu. There are still many Chinese who are good,” he added.
According to him, the term “ultra-kiasu” is colour blind and refers to those who go against the national agenda and federal constitution.
“It doesn’t matter if they are Malays, Chinese, Indians or whoever,” he added.
He explained that the national agenda relates to the position of Islam, Bahasa Malaysia, Malay rulers and the special rights of the Malays, which must be respected at all times.
“I do not sow hatred. There is no meaning in embracing Islam if I urge Muslims to hate those who are not ultra-kiasu,” he said.
Ridhuan said those who wish to know him, should read his articles in full.
“Don’t read the ultra-kiasu websites that always manipulate and sensationalise the minor points in my articles published in Sinar Harian .
“Secondly, don’t meddle in Islamic affairs if you don’t know anything about it. Religion is very sensitive for Muslims,” he added.
He also wanted the non-Malays to learn and understand the Malay lifestyle and their sensitivities.
“Occasionally, I yearn to see non-Malays wearing the traditional baju Melayu during the opening of Parliament or when receiving medals of honour, instead of showing off wearing a blazer or white man’s clothes,” he added.
Taking a potshot at DAP, Ridhuan said national unity cannot be achieved through the Malaysian Malaysia struggle.
“If 1=1 is fair then MCA and Gerakan are not qualified to get cabinet positions given their dismal performance in the last general election,” he added.
Ridhuan also vowed to continue writing for the future of Malaysia and would pay heed to Gerakan Youth’s advice.
“For those who disagree, they have the right not to read and the right to respond because we practice democracy,” he said.
