Selangor Backbenchers' Club (BBC) chairperson Azmin Ali denied that the assemblypersons had reached a consensus to pass vote of 'no confidence' against Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

"The general election is over, a decision has been made and now it's time to work.

"When there is a need to discuss the matter (change of Menteri Besar), then we will discuss it collectively," he is quoted by Bernama as saying.

Azmin (below), who is going against Khalid in the PKR deputy president race, also urged all quarters to stop making speculations on Khalid's resignation as MB.

Speaking after the BBC meeting, he said the issue of the change of Selangor MB was not the PKR major requirement or agenda at the moment.

"I advise the people to stop making any speculation, we call on the party leadership and members to focus efforts on developing the state of Selangor.

"In this holy month of Ramadan, let us not throw allegations, make personal attacks and instead work as a team to help the rakyat," he said after chairing a meeting at the state secretariat building in Shah Alam.

News of Khalid's resignation had spread since Sunday night through the various social media applications including Whatsapp.

The content of the information stated that Khalid will have an audience with the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to step down as the menteri besar.
