I read with much disappointment that not all the 1,000 top scorers in Penang may not get direct entrance into form one in the few top Chinese schools. According to the report, the authority - that is Jabatan Pendidikan - is closing down a few form one classes in those few Chinese schools.

What I fail to understand is while our PM, Pak Lah is trying gain as much brains be it from overseas or locals, we have officials who are trying to undo his policy. Many of those top scorers who fail to get to form one in those schools will definitely feel frustrated and thus begin to lose confidence in our system. Hence later in life they will go elsewhere when the first opportunity arises.

The top scientists and talents who had left the country long ago are mainly frustrated with the system and not by the monetary gains as mentioned by our politicians. Just look at the number of top doctors who are formerly Malaysians. They are mostly attached to the government of the countries of adoption which do not give them as much money as they would earn even in Malaysia as private practitioners.

Hope this will drive some sense into the numbskull of many supposedly top officials.
