The claws are out again in Selangor PKR as more join in the urging for Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to quit as MB, after losing the Kuala Selangor division polls.

Joining the fray today is Selangor PKR secretary Amirudin Shari (left), who echoed PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin in calling on Khalid to take “political responsibility” by quitting.

According to the Amiruddin, who is also Batu Caves assemblyperson, the same sentiments are also echoed by “a large portion” of Selangor assemblypersons.

“Khalid’s attitude and actions continue to cause fissure among parties and leaders, including a large portion of the state assemblypersons who feel there is a need for a change in the MB post to ensure Pakatan Rakyat’s performance in Selangor,” he said in a statement.

He added that Khalid’s statement that he will not resign “invites negative perception among the people of Selangor”.

'Not his sole right'

“(It is) as if the MB post is his sole right and only he can make decisions on it

“Even PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has said that the post does not belong to anyone. This should have been heeded by Khalid and his advisors,” he said.

Yesterday, Khalid’s Port Klang constituency coordinating officer Faekah Husin (right) lambasted Shamsul for urging Khalid to resign for losing the PKR polls.

She said that if this was the benchmark, then the same would apply to Anwar’s Parliamentary Opposition Leader post, as Anwar has no division level posts and Selangor executive council member Daroyah Alwi who also lost in the PKR polls.

Shamsul and Amirudin are largely seen to be aligned to Selangor PKR chief Azmin Ali. Khalid is up against Azmin for the deputy president post.

Meanwhile, PKR disciplinary committee chairperson Tan Kee Kwong said that Faekah, Shamsul and Amirudin have been issued show-cause letters for their statements made on the issue.
