GH Kok wrote an excellent and a well-articulated letter ('Let's learn from Mahathir's mistakes'). Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his cabinet should read it.

What are the other mistakes/weakness of Mahathir?

1) The appointment of corrupt and self-serving cabinet ministers and mentri besars

2) Privatisation - non-transparency in the award of contracts

3) Inability to make friends - everybody seems to be his enemy ranging from our next door neighbour Singapore, our near neighbour Australia, our not-to-far neighbours China and India, our near west neighbour Europe and our far west neighbour America

4) The cultivation and protection of cronies

5) A bankrupt education system - teachers are poorly paid and not motivated, lack of schools for mother-tongue education and our university academic staff are not promoted based on merit

6) The promotion of 'Malay supremacy' - this will be the cause of the downfall of the Malay race
