Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has revealed that the current Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and him share a close bond and this aids him in governing the nation.

The premier said Tuanku Abdul Halim was also king when the former's late father Abdul Razak was prime minister from 1970 to 1975.

"This is a piece of Malaysian history, all of this is determined by fate.

"To get a king, who gets a second round at the throne, and to have two generations (father and son) serving as prime minister is very difficult indeed.

"But this is the power of the Almighty," he was quoted as saying in Umno Online.   

Najib was speaking at a function in Pekan yesterday, the parliamentary constituency in Pahang of both the prime minister and his late father.

Meanwhile, Najib, who is the sixth prime minister, said he has the unequivocal support of the people, especially those in Pekan.

He added that it is this strong support that gives him the strength to administer the country.

If not for the people's support and the unity among various races, Najib said, he would not be able to govern the nation on his own.

"The achievements in the country, including in Pekan, are blessings for our unity. I cannot do my work without your support.

"It is from this support that I derive the spirit to continue governing this country," he added.
