Student activist Jamhuri Mohamed, who has been critical of Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (Umskal), has found his room vandalised and a chicken carcass left behind.
Jamhuri, who is Umskal Pro-Mahasiswa president, found the carcass on his bed while his wall carried the 'berambus bodoh' (get lost, stupid) message.
In a statement today, Umskal Pro-Mahasiswa spokeperson Hasnur Faridah Abbas said the incident happened between 9pm yesterday and 12 midnight today.
They found out upon returrning from a forum on the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971 (UUCA).
Jamhuri is among 16 students facing action under the UUCA for demonstrating against the closure of a campus students' shop in February.
They had taken their plight to the Malaysian Human Right Commission (Suhakam) and were backed by former deputy higher education minister Saifuddin Abdullah.
Hasnur said Jamhuri has lodged a police report over yesterday's incident.
"The message 'berambuslah bodoh" and chicken carcass on the bed is enough to classify it as intimidation," he said.
Hasnur urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
"Umskal Pro-M also hopes the university administration can assist in the investigatigation and take the necessary action to prevent a repeat of such incidents which affect students' safety," he said.
