Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he is unfazed over reports that PAS had reached its tipping point and has now joined DAP and PKR in wanting him out as Selangor MB.

 

"As I know, in the political arena, job security is not as certain as, for example, in the corporate sector.

 

"I take it as a challenge and as a responsibility," he told a press conference in Shah Alam today when asked.

 

Khalid added he is not worried about any plans to oust him.

 

The Malaysian Insider  had reported that PAS too wanted Khalid replaced as the menteri besar for constantly making unilateral decision without consulting his Pakatan Rakyat partners.

 

Prior to this, PKR in the Kajang by-election had put up its de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim as a candidate to eventually replace Khalid as menteri besar.

 

However, Anwar's conviction for sodomy in February threw a spanner in the works for the plan, dubbed the 'Kajang Move'.

 

DAP too has been highly critical of the menteri besar, particularly for Khalid's favourable stance on the controversial Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) project.

 

Kidex controversy

 

The Malaysian Insider report quoted Selangor PAS election chief Jaafar Sulaiman expressing dissatisfaction with Khalid.

 

However, Jaafar had since denied the report, stating that it was not his official stance and his views were merely expressed over a private conversation.

 

Elaborating on the unhappiness against him, Khalid said this was a norm in any job.

 

"Unhappiness is quite common because I am dealing with very sensitive issues.

 

"It is not my intention to make everyone happy but I have to ensure whatever I do is in order and in accordance to law," he said.

 

On a separate matter, Khalid declined to weigh in on the Kidex controversy.

 

He said that it was premature to discuss the matter as the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) had yet to inform the Selangor government on the details of the highway.

 

"As the state government has not received anything from MHA, the state government will not ask the local council to announce any plans yet.

 

"If I get it (information from MHA), then people can scrutinise and discuss whether it (Kidex) is doable or not," he said.
