The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.2 percent to 110.0 in May 2014 from 106.6 registered in the same month last year, the Statistics Department said.

In a statement, the department said the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as, non-food showed increases of 3.3 and 3.1 percent, respectively.

For the period January to May 2014, the CPI increased 3.4 percent to 109.8 compared with 106.2 previously.
 
The index for food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as non-food during the period increased 3.8 and 3.2 percent, respectively.

“The 3.4 percent increase in the CPI was brought about by increases observed in the indices of all the main groups except those of communication as well as clothing and footwear,” the department said.
