With reference to the Dec 1 report 'DAP's 'rising star' quits, blames leadership', I think many capable leaders in DAP have left because of the party's inflexibility and inability to change with the times.

If you notice, DAP only appeals to the older voter, i e those above 45 years old. Younger voters view the party as a lumbering political dinosaur which still harps on issues that have become stale over the past four decades. The party is bereft of ideas and has become more silent as the years go by.

The upper echelon in the DAP consists of old-timers who have been in the business too long. Old-timers like Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh should step down voluntarily as Dr Mahathir Mohamad has done. Our esteemed Lim used to call Mahathir to step down. Now it is Lim and company's turn to do it.

They should let young blood revive the fading party. If they have the party's interests at heart, they should allow new leaders to voice their concerns and participate actively. They should exercise democracy within the party. Then only will the party survive.

If these old codgers still cling to power, I think it will have to be renamed Dinosaur Action Party!
