The PAS juggernaut knows no bounds, even at the expense of BA's credibility.

To now talk about maintaining the immoral status quo of 'bumiputera special rights' to the exclusion of other poor, marginalised non-bumiputera Malaysians speaks volumes about PAS' moral imperative.

This is sheer political opportunism. What is wrong with affirmative action which is means tested and colour blind? Racial discrimination is clearly against the teachings of Islam. Is this their version of a 'divine injunction'?

Isn't this also clearly against the principles of the reformasi movement and Keadilan?

Keadilan and PRM cannot be opposed to an Islamic state and at the same time be equivocal about the concept of a secular Malaysia. You cannot have your cake and eat it. It is time to stand up for your principles. The component parties in BA should not allow themselves to be hijacked by PAS to the detriment of the collective good.

Make no mistake, they are currently a useful appendage to PAS' political ambitions, which will be discarded when convenient. Unfortunately, BA is now in the eyes of the public seen as a coalition party which is wanting to turn Malaysia into an Islamic state ala PAS.

Whimpers of protestation will not redeem BA's lost credibility due to PAS' arrogance and intransigence. It is, I am afraid, a case of 'too little too late'.

The only solution is to pull out of BA as DAP did four years ago, to form an unashamedly secular coalition which will uphold and reinforce democratic rights, justice and good governance for the Malaysian people.
