Forty students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Melaka made their university proud today when their achievement made it to the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR).

The students managed to build the logo of the universiti measuring 5.3m by 8.2m (including the right colours) using 37,400 used 'dodol' (sweet toffee-like confection) containers, in a record time of two hours and 30 minutes.

UiTM Malacca assistant rector Ismadi Md Badarudin said the cost for building the logo, about RM13,400, was contributed by corporate companies.

"The proceeds from 'dodol' sold for RM1 to members of the public will go toward the Tabung Aman Palestin and Tabung Mengubah Destini Anak Bangsa UiTM charities," he told reporters today.

Ismadi said 'dodol' containers were chosen because it was a traditional delicacy among people in Melaka and can be stored for a long time.

The certificate for the logo was presented by MBOR representative Suhaili Shamsuddin to Ismadi.
