PKR president Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has warned "outsiders" not to continue disrupting the party's democratic internal election process.
PKR president Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has warned "outsiders" not to continue disrupting the party's democratic internal election process.
"Early information shows clearly that those who create trouble in the elections were identified as non-members, who were motivated by gangster groups," Wan Azizah said in a statement today.
"The incidents sparked several disciplinary actions involving several PKR members," she added.
Her statement follows the suspension of Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as 'Chegubard' ( left ), from his PKR membership for publicly alleging that the party's elections are dirty and not transparent.
Wan Azizah insisted that PKR never takes disciplinary issues lightly, reminding all quarters to obey existing party rules and celebrate democracy.
She added that with a high level of discipline, PKR would surely be able to attract more members, beyond race, culture and religion.
Wan Azizah also thanked all those involved in the elections of several divisions held between May 31 and June 1.
She also praised the party's election committee for its willingness to hear the critics and comments from all levels, as it showed high levels of responsibility.
"We hope the party's Election Committee will continue its efforts to improve the election process of the party from time to time," she said.
