PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang suddenly falling ill in Turkey has sent both Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim rushing to ensure the Marang MP gets the help he needs.

According to Bernama, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said he had instructed the Malaysian embassy in Turkey to extend the necessary assistance Abdul Hadi may require.

"(I) was informed...Hadi Awang was warded at a hospital in Istanbul. This morning, I contacted the embassy to ascertain datuk seri is given the necessary assistance," tweeted the prime minister.

Najib (left) is currently in Beijing for a six-day official visit in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.

According to Harakah Daily, Abdul Hadi was admitted to the hospital at about 8.45pm yesterday (Malaysian time) after complaining of breathing problems.

Meanwhile, PKR says it has contacted Turkey's Prime Minister's Office for assistance as soon as it received word that Abdul Hadi was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit at Medipol Universitesi Hastanesi, Istanbul.

"Shortly after the news last night, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is also PKR de facto leader, contacted the office of Recep Tayyip's Erdogan, the Prime Minister of Turkey.

"The Prime Minister's Office of Turkey assured that it will extend its full assistance to Abdul Hadi," said PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil.

"The entire leadership and family in PKR prays for Abdul Hadi's swift recovery," he added.
