Some of the issues raised by Jeffrey on 'Bare denial not enough to rebut SBS' Dateline allegations' may be considered as fair observations. However, one cannot help but wonder how naive Jeffrey is for him to assume such a simplistic approach with regards to the available options for Anwar Ibrahim after witnessing events of past few years.

How can Anwar challenge the powers-that-be through other means, i.e. electoral contests or in court? He did not have even a half chance to do just that, no matter how hard he cried.

So what's wrong if he had met with Ayatollah Khomeini considering the circumstances at the time? Can we equate a person who meets Saddam Hussein or George W Bush as believing in their policies as well? Our prime minister met with Fidel Castro many times but it did not turn him into a communist!

It should be remembered that SBS would have sought legal advice considering the implications of the story. I am sure they would have tried to avoid any loopholes as much as possible so that not many options would be available to Anwar.

It is funny how Anwar was once considered a traitor by having friends in Washington and now he is a terrorist by having friends in an Islamic organisation. Perhaps it would not be too long before the chairman of Organisation Islamic Conference will be regarded as a terrorist now that he is regarded as anti-Semitic.
